Do Not Forget The Lord When You Become Rich

We have so many people who when they are going through trials and challenges could not seize from talking to the Lord and going to church. But, as soon as they are delivered from them all, they become scarce for God to even talk to. And before long, they are back to where they started.

Deuteronomy 8:18 (NLT)
Remember the LORD your God. He is the one who gives you power to be successful, in order to fulfill the covenant he confirmed to your ancestors with an oath.

There is the story of a man, a christian, who lost his job and became very committed in his church that the Pastor had to take notice of him. After some months being jobless, with some prayer and faith, God gave him a job. After awhile, he became too busy for God and for church. The same God that gave him the job and the same church he seek solace in time of challenge. The things he was doing before, his responsibilities were abandoned. But guess what? The job didn't last long because he cut himself off from the source - God.

You see, many believers miss out on God because they stop doing what brought in the blessings. They become wise in their own ways that they can now conduct their affairs. They think their job or business is now their source; forgetting that it is God who gives the power to become successful.

Therefore, God's choice does not depend on a person's will or effort, but on God himself, who shows mercy - Romans 9:16 (ISV)

God speaking to the children of Israel after bringing them out of Egypt in Deuteronomy 8:10 - when thou hast eaten and art full, then thou shalt bless The Lord thy God for the good land which He hath given thee.

That right there should be your attitude when God blesses you. You should bless Him; acknowledge Him. And He cautioned you against doing otherwise -  'and when they herds and thy flocks multiply, and thy silver and thy gold is multiplied, and all that thou hast is multiplied; Then thine heart be lifted up and thou forget The Lord thy God, which brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage; - Deuteronomy 8:13-14'

Don't get to a point in your life where you begin to think it is by your own power that you've achieved all you have and acquire the wealth you have.

Just like our theme scripture said; It is God that gives the power to get wealth. Without God, you would work in vain. And He already know the end of such people who forget Him; 'As the nations which the lord destroyers before your face, so shall ye perish; - Deuteronomy 8:20'

God is the one that daily loads you with benefits (Psalm 68:19) and it is because of Him that you're not consumed (Lamentations 3:22). If you read Deuteronomy 8:6 -9, you will see what God can do with your life.

It is not a difficult thing for God to bless you; the question is 'can you sustain the blessing?'

You should read the full chapter 8 of the book of Deuteronomy.

God will surely bring you to a place to love the good and successful life. Don't forget Him.
