Why You Should Trust in God
One day Jesus while still walking the face of the earth was invited for a marriage ceremony and in the course of event, just when people are beginning to catch their fun, the wine finished.
John 2:1 - 5 (NIV)
On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.” “Woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come. His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”
Looking at our theme scripture above, you could single out the one word from Mary, the mother of Jesus. She said 'whatever He tells you to do, do it!' In fact, the new American Standard version renders verse 5 as - “Whatever He says to you, do it (John 2:5).
That right there is one key principle to enjoying all of God has to offer and that He had offered.
You must do what He tells you to do. You must trust Him enough to believe His word and have faith in it.
His word never falls to the ground without accomplishing that which He send it (Isaiah 55:11). His words are yeah and amen. They are dependable.
Look at what Jesus told them; He asked them to fill the jar with dirty water and they did just that and serve to the high tables; when the chiefs were drinking yet asked why the best wine was kept till later.
John 2: 6 - 8 (NLT)
Standing nearby were six stone water jars, used for Jewish ceremonial washing. Each could hold twenty to thirty gallons. Jesus told the servants, “Fill the jars with water.” When the jars had been filled, he said, “Now dip some out, and take it to the master of ceremonies.” So the servants followed his instructions.
God's word is for doing. You don't deliberate on His word, you act on it. You hear to do. Because once He says it, the power to bring it to pass goes with it. For a moment, just imagined they hesitated in serving the water from the pot?
Look at what the prophet told the shunammite woman on borrowing many gallons, even though she only have a bottle of oil. She did as the prophet asked her to and she became a distributor of oil because from that bottle came hundreds of gallons. Praise The Lord! (2 Kings 4:1-7)
What about Moses with the Israelite at the Red Sea? When Moses cried to God for rescue when they got to the red sea and the army of the Egyptians fast approaching; see how God responded: And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward (Exodus 14:15)
God then told him to lift up his rod, stretch out his hand and divide the sea. Moses didn't hesitate on Gods word but acted on it and the Bible recorded that the sea pathed to the left and to the right and they walked on dry ground (Exodus 14:29).
God is asking you today 'what do you have? What's in your hand?'. With whatever you have, He can give you all you are asking.
He is the one that told the sun where to hide till morning and told the sea where to stop. What do you think is hard for Him to do?
Have you read the story about the wall of Jericho? How it came down flat? (Joshua 6:20). That's something to keep your eyes wide open. God told them to go round the wall seven times and at the last 'they should shout' ...let's read it:
Joshua 6:16,20 (KJV)
16 - And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the LORD hath given you the city
20 - So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.
It is not your responsibility to know how He is going to do it. He is God. He is big. He is the rock of ages. Imagine bringing out water from the rock; that's what He made Moses do. (Exodus 17:6)
The how and when is not your business, your business is to do what He said you should do.
Don't stop your progress and growth by following the ways and wisdom of men. Don't short changed yourself by putting limitation on God's power.
Jesus admonish us to ask the father anything that our joy may be full. If you want your joy to be full, then you must ask and do according to what He said you should do.
It may be as simple as giving someone a call or even helping a child cross the road. His instruction will come to you by His Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the conveyor of Gods presence and instruction.
What you should do:
- Study and meditate on the word. When you study the word, your mind will be opened to His realities. You will see how God's people prayed, acted on His word and the victories they got too. Because when you start praying, it is His word you will bring to Him. The Bible says 'He had said that we may boldly say'. (Hebrews 13:5-6)
- Speak in tongue more. The beautiful thing about speaking in tongue is that you are speaking to God directly. Not even the angels understand you at this point because you are speaking mysteries. This is the way to build up yourself as an edifice. (Jude 1:20)
When you speak in tongue, your spiritual antenna will be active and ready to receive once God speaks because God will speak to your spirit. You should be able to take it from your spirit and act on it.
As you live out your Christian life, trust Him enough and act on every of His word to you. This will guarantee you living the good life.
