Take Advantage Of The Mercies of God

The Bible said that it is not of him that willeth or runneth but of God that showeth mercy.

Over the past few weeks, I have been pondering this truth – God’s mercy. And each time, it took me back to the fight between David – the shepherd boy and Goliath - the warrior, and the bush boy won.

What happened? How did this come to be? Even King Saul that was head and shoulder above everyone in Israel couldn’t come out to face the giant.

The victory was because David knew the God he served and the covenant that was at work. And he took great advantage of it and put it to work in that situation that made him the giant slayer.

Our theme scripture is so profound because it nullifies all your human effort, and shows you how little you can achieve without God’s mercy.

It doesn’t matter how strong your will is concerning any matter, what God wants is for you to depend on Him for the answers. He wants to guide you in simple matters as well as in critical ones. He wants to be your strategist.

Also, before you take that next step, why not ask for His leading and guidance? After all, He knows the end from the beginning. He created you and knows your future from the beginning of time. Won’t it be wise to just allow Him to lead and guide you into His perfect will for your life?

Psalms 30:10 says, “Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon me: Lord, be thou, my helper”. This should be one of your prayers especially if you feel lost or thinking that you’ve lost control of the situations you are facing or just need an answer for the next step in your life.

In Jeremiah 9 when God was talking to the Prophet Jeremiah, He said in verses 23 -24;

 23 Thus says the Lord:
“Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom,
Let not the mighty man glory in his might,
Nor let the rich man glory in his riches;

24 But let him who glories glory in this,
That he understands and knows Me,
That I am the Lord, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth.
For in these I delight,” says the Lord.

God does not want you to depend on your strength or might but your confidence should be on Him. And hear this, if you feel you’ve lost everything or gone very far from seeking His mercy; Lamentations 3:22 says, “it is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed because His compassions fail not”.

Ask Him for His mercies today whether you missed His instructions, leading and guidance in the past or you want to take on a new challenge, and He will show you His mercies because He loves you greatly.

How do I know? Ephesians 2:4 says, “But God who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us”.
