5 Ways To Make Your Faith Work

Mark 11: But if ye do not forgive, neither will your heavenly father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

In a response to his disciples, we found 5 tied in ways on how to make your faith work, no matter how little it is.

After the fig tree had dried up to its root and Peter bringing to remembrance what Jesus had said concerning the fig tree, Jesus first response was ‘have faith in God’.

Have faith in God here can be said to mean ‘have the God kind of faith’. So, what we are dealing with here is not man’s faith or faith in your ability or the ability of your connection. For all that can fail you and they always fail in the end. The only one that stands till the end is the ‘God kind of faith’.

In the book of Mark 11:23-26, in Jesus’ response you will find the answer to making your mustard seed sized faith to work.

Mark 11:23 -26:

23“Truly I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says is going to happen, it will be granted him.
24“Therefore I say to you, all things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them, and they will be granted you.
25“Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven will also forgive you your transgressions.
26[“But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father who is in heaven forgive your transgressions.”]

The first is “Say to the mountain”; mountain here could represent anything that you desired change about or some concerns that you want result about. The real deal here that Jesus pointed out is not as much to what you are praying for as to the “specific-ness” of it. This means you must be specific. If you want a car, don’t pray for money. Because the car can be gotten in many more ways than you going to the car shop to buy it with your own money. Just pray for the car. If you are sick in your body, demand for your healing and stop beating around the bush. For example, if you are feeling headache, say to the ‘a headache’; if you’re due for a promotion at work, ‘speak to being promoted’.

The second is “Do not doubt what you have said”; doubt is that thought of impossibility that comes to attack your mind bringing fear, discouragement, and disappointment with it. It questions the word of God in your life and the efficacy of the words that you’ve spoken. It leads to unbelief. And this is the number killer of faith.

The third is “Believe in what you’ve said”; once you do not allow doubt take a hold of you, the next immediate thing is to start believing in what you’ve said. The bible recorded that Abraham did not yield to unbelief but was strong in faith giving glory to God. That is what you do at this phase; you give glory to God.

The fourth is “Have what you’ve said"; this is where a lot of Christians misses it. They do not know how to receive from God; they do not know how to receive what they’ve said. Read the words of Jesus, he said, “Have what you’ve said”. In other words, it is done, just go ahead and enjoy your received answers. You do not receive with your hand; you receive with your spirit. When this happens, there will be a certainty in your spirit that you’ve received answers to your prayer.

The fifth one is “forgive”; I know you’re not expecting to see forgiving in the list. It is there and even though it is the last item on the list, it is perhaps the first thing you should do before you start praying.

Jesus himself dedicated two verses to forgiving, in Mark 11:25 – 26.

He said; “And when you stand praying, forgive…”

The Bible said; if you do this thing, your faith will work.

God ahead and ask what you desire of the Lord without doubt and believe that it will come to pass, and receive answer to what you’ve asked for; but, don’t forget to forgive everyone that wronged you.
