Always Watch Your Prayers With Thanksgiving

Colossians 4:2: Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving

This is one the instructions given by Paul the Apostle to the people of Colossians, and by extension, given to us.

The Bible says God’s answers to our prayers are ‘yea and amen’; and this means God never says no to any of our requests. He either says yes or nothing.

Reading from the opening verse in Colossians 4:2, we are instructed to do two things – continue in prayer and watch the prayer with thanksgiving.

We are talking about the second part – watching in thanksgiving. We cannot emphasize how important prayer is important to a Christian, even God himself called his church ‘a house of prayer’.

But, there is also the part of waiting. Not a lot of people know how to receive answers to their prayers or wait for the answer to their prayers.

That’s the answer we just received – it’s with thanksgiving.

First, the reason we pray is that we know that God will not only hear our prayers but He will answer them, especially when we pray according to His word (His will).

So, if we know and have the assurance that God hears our prayers and He will answer them, why don’t we wait patiently for the answer?  It is because we are used to the fast food life and we think God is working with our schedule.

If you want to live and enjoy the Christian life and all God has blessed us with, you must learn how to wait in thanksgiving. This is how you remain unshaken and would not allow your faith waiver or vacillate because you know that no matter how long it takes, God is always on time.

No wonder, the Bible says “do not have anxiety over anything…’ and the Bible also went further to tell us what to do instead ‘…with prayer and thanksgiving make your request known to God’.

What is that challenge you are going through or what miracle do you require at this time whether for you or someone else, go to God in prayer, continue in prayer and be thankful to God always knowing that He is able to perform that which He had said.

And it is very important that when you start thanking God, your words must align with your expectations and what you have received from God.

Always keep watching your prayers with thanksgiving.
