It Is Important How You Respond To Things In Life
2 Kings 4:26; "Run now, I pray thee, to meet her, and say unto her, Is it well with thee? is it well with thy husband? is it well with the child? And she answered, It is well."
You must have the saying that; ‘it is not what happens to you in life that matters but how you respond to it’. How true?
You might be going through your own high waters or deep down in the valley at the moment, what matters most is how you respond.
How you respond will determine if the situation or challenges, however you look at it, will work out in your favour.
Let’s see the life of Joseph the dreamer, though he was sold into slavery but ended up as the Prime Minister of Egypt answerable only to King Pharaoh.
How could this be? The answer is simple, he has a different perspective – God perspective, and he responded from that angle.
Check out his profile:
- Favourite of his father and hated by his older brothers before sold into slavery because of his dreams that pointed out that he will be head of them all. How many of you have some vision from God, only for you to find yourself in a dire situation that doesn’t look like it ending soon? What are your responses? How are you responding?
- Became head of Potiphar’s’ servants. Now, he was meant to rule over his family according to the vision he had. Instead, he is head over servants with no value. But, the bible said he was a diligent man even as the head of the servants. And his master prospers because of him.
Can that be said of you today? Maybe God has told you about a great thing He wants to do with your life, and you think where you are doesn’t look like it is taking you to where you should be. Think again! You must respond right. Train yourself.

- He was sent to Pharaoh's prison. This is what Africans call “frying pan to fire”. After enjoying all the goodness in Potiphar’s house and thinking this is it, he was thrown into prison for a crime he didn’t commit. Why? Because he held on to God’s perspective and responded accordingly. How could he have sex with his master’s wife? It shouldn’t happen.
- He became head of the prisoners again. What a mess? Instead of his released being talked about, he was made the head of the prisoners. That is like he is going to be there for a longer time than he anticipated. But, again he showed forth the life that is resident in him. And the Bible said he found favour even from the butlers.
- And He became Prime Minister. This is the plan after all. This was where God was taking him to all along. Now, you can understand when God said His ways and thoughts are so far up than ours.
In waiting for your miracle or moving to the next phase of your life, you must learn how to respond according to the word of God. You must be conscious that if He had said it, He would do it.
God is not a man that he should lie.
Just like the Shunammite woman whose son died after she and her husband had been good to the Prophet of God when asked by the Prophet ‘what’s up?’; she responded ‘it is well’.
2 Kings 4:26; "Run now, I pray thee, to meet her, and say unto her, Is it well with thee? is it well with thy husband? is it well with the child? And she answered, It is well."
That should be your respond today. Practice responding Gods way.
